Hey There the approximate finished height is 14" and all the pits come with a 1/2" drain hole, but we highly recommend the Snuffer lids. You don't want wet ash living in your fire pit. Wet ash turns into lye and lye is a corrosive chemical. The lids are great because not only do they put the fire out, but they keep water out as well.
