All of our pits are steel. Steel will oxidize on the outside but once oxidized the process pretty much quits. Thin gauge pits will get eaten up when you let your ash sit in it wet. Wet ash turns into lye and lye reacts with steel. We sell lids to keep the water off your ash, but no our products are thick and don't rust through.
