That is the diameter of the round piece. The handles come in about a quarter inch of that. We make all our lids with a little overhang on the fire pit to help keep the rain out.
42 inch snuffer says actual dimensions are 43 1/4. Is this to the outside of the handles or diameter of round? 42" Handcrafted Snuffer Lid for Fire Pit
